Renamed this "series" into "dumb products" because it's now not only about software. Ok, again printers.
Working for a lot of different clients on site I'm always wondering why nearly 99% of all printers have a sticker somewhere with the printer-name, IP address, hotline number, you-name-it. These hyper-modern printers all have an LCD screen. And this screen shows "Ready" most of the time. Well, that's a valuable information.
Why is there no printer, where I can show such information from the sticker on the LCD screen? Maybe there is, but if, than it seems extremely complicated to configure because it's not used. I never dig it down yet, but will as soon as I meet the next CIO or so.
